Who we're looking for

We’re looking for a senior-level Frontend Engineer with strong React and TypeScript skills, who also has backend experience with Python, to join our fully distributed tech team full time. You’ll primarily work on building and maintaining robust frontend applications, but your role will also involve critical backend tasks, helping us expand our capabilities in AI-driven services and micropayment tooling.

Your tasks

You’ll be responsible for:

• Developing frontend applications using modern React, TypeScript, and associated tooling.
• Writing clean, reusable components, styling, and robust testing (unit and E2E).
• Collaborating closely with backend engineers, product managers, and designers to scope and implement technical solutions.
• Assisting with backend tasks, especially Python-based API integration, to enable AI-driven and micropayment features.
• Engaging in technical scoping, architectural discussions, and documentation.
• Identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving performance bottlenecks, bugs, and issues across the stack.
• Participating in the setup and management of CI/CD tooling and deployment pipelines.

About you

Our ideal candidate:

• Has strong frontend experience with React (including Remix, Next.js, Vite) and extensive expertise with TypeScript.
• Has solid experience with CSS frameworks and CSS-in-JS (e.g., Tailwind CSS, Emotion).
• Brings practical experience with state management tools like XState or familiarity with state machines.
• Has meaningful backend experience, particularly with Python, FastAPI, and SQLAlchemy.
• Demonstrates familiarity or interest in AI/agentic technologies and payment tooling.
• Is adept with modern testing frameworks (unit, E2E, visual regression) and CI/CD practices (CircleCI preferred).
• Understands complex systems and provides clear insights on architecture and system design decisions.
• Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Offers mentorship, guidance, and actively helps unblock peers.
• Possesses excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, necessary for remote collaboration via Slack and video calls.

Bonus points if you:

• Have previous experience in fintech, micropayments, or AI product development.
• Have demonstrated expertise in Docker, AWS infrastructure, or event-driven systems (Kafka).
• Enjoy working in a startup environment where cross-functional collaboration is key.

How we work

Supertab is a team of 20+ people spread over 13+ countries in time zones from UTC-8 to UTC+2. We value your work more than your presence at a desk by 9am. Most of us work Monday to Friday, 7ish to 4ish UTC together in Slack. Working hours are flexible but we expect you to overlap for at least 4 hours between 9am and 4pm UTC. We aim for asynchronicity, but still need some "synchronicity" to work well.

We’ve been a fully distributed organization since our founding, and we’re pretty proud of the supportive remote culture we’ve created. We use Slack as our office, Jira for transparency and organizing work, and video calls for real-time collaboration (and just to hang out face to face).
